The DNC Opens

Today, Democratic National Party Chairman Howard Dean used a gavel to call the 2008 Democratic National Convention to order at the start of the first session in Denver, Colorado.

Future first lady Michelle Obama will headline tonight's event!

Update: John Legend performed. Sen. Ted Kennedy took the stage (after doctors were said to be worried about exposure to crowds because of the frailty of his immune system. But not even brain cancer was going to keep him away from the convention). And, Michelle Obama gave an incredible speech.

For those who had never heard Michelle speak before the convention, I'm sure they were thoroughly impressed. She's such a class act! As for me, I enjoyed the Obama family video correspondence via satellite. How cute was that?!

PS: You can find HQ videos of all DNC speeches on YouTube's DemocraticMedia channel.
