Dear America

Oops, you almost did it again! You landed an American Idol front-runner in the bottom two.

What were you thinking?!

Haven't you learned anything from the past 7 seasons? No one is EVER safe! Do NOT assume that you do not have to vote!

Adam should never have been, and should never be in the bottom two.

Think about it: He has incredible vocals! He can hit high notes, he can hit low notes, and after that he can hit even higher notes. And he doesn't even have to strain himself to do so. He has amazing control!

He has a great personality! He's smart, he's funny, he's humble. And, according to the other contestants, he's the one who gives the best advice and helps them with their songs.

He has style! The clothes. The hair. The smile. Need I say more?

He has presence! Besides Ryan Seacrest, he's the only one who works the stage.

And, last but certainly not least, he makes the best songs choices! He's an artist, and he's not afraid to step out of the box. He's not afraid to take a risk! For example: no one but Adam could have pulled off that rendition of "Ring of Fire." No one at all could have pulled off "Mad World." And, not only that, but not one of his songs has ever been sung on 'Idol' before. He never gives in to the comfort of a "safe" choice.

I think you get my point.

So, America, don't let this happen again. Vote for Adam (and Danny)!

Is That Carrie?

100 Days

Yesterday, April 29th, 2009, marked President Obama's first 100 days in office! And while morning shows ran recaps, and networks like CNN asked viewers to grade the President's progress, here's what Barack had to say for himself (during a prime-time new conference):

"I am surprised compared to where I started, when we first announced for this race, by the number of critical issues that appear to be coming to a head all at the same time."

"I'd say less troubled, but, you know, sobered by the fact that change in Washington comes slow."

"I will tell you that when I — when I meet our servicemen and women, enchanted is probably not the word I would use. But I am so profoundly impressed and grateful to them for what they do."

"(I'm) humbled by the fact that the presidency is extraordinarily powerful, but we are just part of a much broader tapestry of American life, and there are a lot of different power centers. ... And I'm humbled, last, by the American people who have shown extraordinary patience and I think a recognition that we're not going to solve all of these problems overnight."

It's "Official"

The stars of Slumdog Millionaire are taking their romance off-screen!

Movie audiences across the world cheered for Dev Patel and Freida Pinto's onscreen love story in the Oscar-winning "Slumdog Millionaire," and now the pair are officially a couple in real life.

They have repeatedly denied that their film script romance carried over into their off-screen lives, but photos taken last week suggested otherwise.

And in the wake of those published photos that show the duo sharing a cuddly lunch in Israel, Patel's mother has confirmed that they are dating to Britain's Daily Mirror.

"Life can’t get any better for him. Freida is really beautiful and I am really happy for them," Patel's mother Anita told the British newspaper.

"Yes, we knew he was flying to Israel to see her," she said.

Pinto, 24, is on location in Israel for a film and the Mirror last week ran photos of the striking actress sharing an intimate lunch with Patel, 18, who flew especially to Jerusalem for the date.

Pinto is slated to appear in an upcoming Woody Allen film and there are rumors she has also been tapped to be a Bond Girl in an upcoming 007 film.

The Idols Do It Their Way

Tonight, American Idol's Top 5 will sing "rat pack" themed songs.

I can't wait to see what Adam has up his sleve for this one!

'Idol' kicks off at 8 PM ET. And, if you plan on recording it, make sure you tape an extra 5 minutes (just to be safe).

Update: Finally! My man Danny Gokey blew it out of the box with an amazing rendition of "Come Rain Come Shine"!

A stellar performance from Danny has been well overdue. But I knew he could do it!

Idols Latest Casualties

Last night, Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai ended their journey on American Idol after a double "disco" elimination.

It was no surprise that Lil was sent packing, but I was really sad to see Anoop go! He's so talented, so sweet, so stylish...

I can't wait to see him on the 'Idol' tour this summer!

At least the remaining contestants are all very deserving, and very talented. I think it's the best Top 5 American Idol's ever had!

Happy Earth Day!

This year people seem more aware of the environmental crisis that faces our planet. President Obama’s campaigns dealt with the issue of global warming in every debate. Many experts are analyzing the crisis in the auto industry point to a lack of fuel efficiency innovation as a major cause of Detroit’s problems, and more companies are touting their “green” products.

With all the daily attention being paid to the environment, people this year may be asking themselves what the big deal is about Earth Day. The answer, quite simply, is that without the advent of Earth Day, environmental issues would likely still be in the background. So, as Earth Day approaches, here are a few reasons to appreciate its history and meaning once more.

Although the idea for Earth Day came about in the early 1960s, the first official Earth Day wasn’t held until 1970.

The purpose was to draw attention to environmental issues that we tossed to the side (air and water pollution, the dumping of toxic chemicals and the destruction of natural habitat) and received little to no federal attention at the time.

Earth Day was based on the fundamentals of grass roots organizing, and events took place around the country.

Such local efforts are still at the heart of every Earth Day celebration.

At the heart of Earth Day is the idea that the more people know about our national environmental policies, the more likely they will be to play a role in shaping them. Earth Day has always sought to inform and educate. Of course, knowledge isn’t worth much if it can’t be put to use, and Earth Day celebrations provide every individual an opportunity to get involved. From local beach cleanups and rallies for clean energy, to petitioning representatives to pass environmental legislation, April 22 is the focal point for environmental causes we might otherwise take for granted.

In 1970, the same year of the first Earth Day celebration, President Nixon created the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA’s work in studying and regulating pollution springs from the same spirit of stewardship as Earth Day.

With billions of participants worldwide, Earth Day is the world’s single largest secular civic event. Who wouldn’t want to attend that celebration?
Many cities base their educational and community outreach efforts around a weekend of festivities, live music, good food and time spent outdoors.

How are you planning on celebrating? Making some simple changes to celebrate Earth Day can help set the stage for more earth-friendly commitments in the future. Visit Earth911.com and check out the Earth Day 2009 Channel for ideas on how to get started, insights into recylcing and what others pledge to do.

"The Phone" Premieres Tonight!

If Justin Timberlake calls, think twice before answering.

On The Phone, the new MTV reality show that Timberlake is executive producing – premiering Tuesday at 10 p.m. – contestants accept a challenge via cellphone to complete several high-stakes missions for clues that will ultimately lead them to a $50,000 prize.

Among the tasks: climbing to the top of Seattle's Space Needle.

"We take four people and put them through a game of hell, basically," Timberlake, 28, tells PEOPLE. "We make them characters in an action film. We constantly throw a curve ball."

How crazy does it get? In the opening seconds of the debut episode, a female contestant presses 1 on her phone keypad to play – and a car blows up nearby.

Though the show was inspired by a similar program in Holland, "our version is that show on acid," says Timberlake, who participated in the early development of the six-episode series. "I helped format the show and come up with ideas to constantly up the stakes on the contestants. But I have such a great team that put together the ins and outs of the show."

Timberlake is also gearing up to host the May 9 episode of Saturday Night Live with musical guest Ciara. "That experience for me is nothing but fun," says the experienced host. "I feel like I get to hang out with a group of people I like to hang out with and we happen to do sketch comedy, too."

So what's up his sleeve this time around? "I really haven't thought about it," he says. "The good thing about SNL is that there's plenty of weird things that will happen in the world in the next couple of weeks, so you never want to plan too far ahead."

Want to hit the red carpet with Leonardo DiCaprio at the premiere of his next film? Here's your chance.

The actor and environmental activist, 34, is auctioning off the opportunity to attend the premiere of his upcoming drama Shutter Island – complete with eco-car service to and from the event and a stay at a green hotel.

"By bidding on these items at ebay.com/globalgreen, people will help Global Green combat climate change and pursue important environmental imperatives, such as greening our nation's schools, housing, cities and more," says DiCaprio, who is a board member for Global Green USA, which advocates for climate-friendly solutions to environmental issues.

The auction begins Wednesday night at 7 p.m. and ends on Earth Day, April 22.

Lindsay's Looking For Love

You MUST watch Lindsay Lohan's new "eHarmony" video-profile she created for FunnyOrDie.com! It's hilarious, and a reminder that Lindsay knows how to have some good, clean fun.

Rock on!!!

Takin' It To The Max

Jennifer Love Hewitt is looking ahead. Way ahead. When she posed for the cover of Maxim for the third time, she thought it would be an ego boost – in the nursing home.

"It's nice to have the Maxims of the world out there," she tells the May issue of the magazine, which hits newsstands April 21. "You can look at them when you're 80 and be like, 'See? No, really, I was cute. I promise!' "

The actress, who is dating funnyman Jamie Kennedy, says that a man must have a sense of humor to win her heart. "The two biggest things are being trustworthy and funny. Humor doesn't fade. If you're a funny person, you will always be a funny person."

And nerds of the world can rejoice – she has a soft spot for them too. "I'm all about geeks. They're funny, so that's a big plus. Also, geeks are usually humble. They don't have to be the person in the room with the coolest shirt."

In the interview, the Ghost Whisperer star makes it clear that she cannot really talk to ghosts. "At the grocery store, getting cough syrup at the drugstore, wherever, I'll have people come up and go, 'Listen, my grandmother just passed away, you've gotta help me!' " she says. "I'm like, 'I'm just getting lettuce. I can't help you!' "

So what is her latest hobby? "My new thing is that I always take my bubble baths wearing a tiara … I am a grownup who bathes in a tiara. One that I got from Disneyland."

That sounds like a perfect image for another Maxim cover.

Adam Deserves 'Mad' Props

As far as American idol goes, I don't think anyone has ever taken the kind of artistic risk that Adam Lambert took last night. He sang a brilliant rendition of Tears for Fears/Gary Jules' "Mad World," and gave such a vulnerable, emotional performance. And as a result, Simon (and the rest of the judges) gave him a "standing o."

Everything's Coming Up Lindsay

Lindsay Lohan and her celebrity deejay girlfriend Samantha Ronson have split – and this time, Ronson's family hopes it sticks, a source tells PEOPLE.

"Sam's family has made her swear that it's really over," a friend of Lohan and Ronson's tells PEOPLE. "They are giving her all the support they can to keep her away from Lindsay."

Adds another source close to Ronson: "Lindsay is going to try and twist the situation in her favor, but Sam clearly left her, not the other way around."

Lohan herself spoke out on Monday telling E! news, "We are taking a brief break so I can focus on myself."

Meanwhile, Lohan has reportedly written several messages on her private Twitter page alleging Ronson's infidelity and drug use led to their breakup. In one message, the actress wrote, "You broke my heart. Now go away. I loved you."

The on-again off-again pair have not been spotted publicly together in recent days, while Lohan has been a fixture on the L.A. scene, stopping into Chateau Marmont with her sister Ali on April 1, and even jumping on stage to sing along with Lily Allen during the British pop star's concert the following night at the Wiltern.

Over the weekend, Ronson changed the locks on her house, a friend of the pair confirms. "Sam changed the locks on her house," the source tells PEOPLE. "Lindsay moved her stuff out as much as she could. She's basically totally out of the house as far as her stuff and she's not living there anymore."

Adds the source: "Lindsay was pretty devastated."

This weekend, Lohan attempted to get into the "I Heart Ronson" bash at Bar Marmont in West Hollywood – an event celebrating Charlotte Ronson's clothing line and deejayed by Samantha Ronson.

"Lindsay was banned from the event and was trying to enter from all ends," says a source. "Sam did not want her there."

The next night, Lohan hit up other hot spots including the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. According to a paparazzo, who spotted the star at McDonalds later in the night, "Lindsay kept hiding her face in her hands … One second she would scream that we were scaring her and the next she started rambling about how much she loves Samantha."

Source: PEOPLE

Lindsay Lohan is surviving her recent breakup with girlfriend Samantha Ronson with the help of her family, a source tells PEOPLE.

"Is she upset? Yes. Has it been a rough week? Yes," says the source close to the actress. "But her family's around her and she's just focusing on business right now."

While a source says Ronson's family is hoping the split will be for good, those in Lohan's camp want the actress to focus on herself for a bit.

"The important thing is that she's taking space and time to breathe," says the source. "That's what her family is here to do – help make sure she takes care of herself."

As for Lohan's business venture, her new spray tan line Sevin Nyne, its sales campaign is debuting this month on Sephora.com.

Asked about the future for the on-again, off-again couple, the source says that Lohan, 22, and Ronson, 31, "are totally communicating. What's going to happen? Who knows?"

Source: PEOPLE

BREAKING NEWS: According to paparrazi agency X17, Samantha Ronson's mother and sister have requested information about getting a restraining order against Sam's ex, Lindsay Lohan. Apparently, it has been confirmed with the Beverly Hills Police Department.

On a more positive note, Lindsay graces the cover of the April 2009 Chinese issue of Harper's Bazaar:

America Got It Right

Lets face it, the right person usually ends up winning American Idol. But why does it always take so long to send home the ones who deserve to go?

I don't know. But during last nights results show, America actually got it right.

Megan Joy was finally sent on her way.

I'll admit, I liked her in the beginning. I think we all did. She had a lot of potential. But after spoiling any chance she had of progressing (by singing "Turn Your Lights Down" on Tuesday night instead of Duffy or Adele), she really needed to go.

And now she's gone.
