A Girls Right To Shoes

These could be the loves of my life, Dior's Extreme Gladiator Platforms (as seen on Carrie in Sex and the City: The Movie). Smooth grained leather, contoured bands, metal studs, logo-engraved buckle... If only they weren't $770, they'd be mine.

Angelina Uncensored

If you're Vanity Fair, what do you do after a photo controversy involving an underage Disney star? You let an incredibly sexy 32-year-old superstar grace your next cover. Case in point:

In the July issue of Vanity Fair, out next week, Angelina Jolie shares her innermost feelings about life, love, marriage, and her career.

I can't wait to get my hands on a copy!

My "Sex and the City" Review

Four years after the hit show ended its six-season run on HBO, “Sex and the City: The Movie” is the hottest ticket in town.

While “Sex” has moved from the city to the cinema, Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda have moved on with their lives.

With obvious questions in mind (Will Carrie marry Mr. Big? Will Steve betray Miranda? Will Charlotte have a baby? Who’s Samantha sleeping with?) fans will enjoy learning the fates of their four favorite New York women.

In 2 hours and 15 minutes the girls experience surprises, disappointments, forgiveness, laughter, love and commitment, along with a colorful supporting cast designed by Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood, and, of course, Manolo Blahnik.

A knockoff may not be as easy to spot when it comes to love, according to Carrie Bradshaw, but these ladies, and their relationships with each other, are the real deal.

Lakers v. Celtics

It's official, the most storied rivalry in basketball will be renewed as the Los Angeles Lakers meet the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals. Rest up boys, this is going to be crazy, and it all starts Thursday (in Boston).

Dressed In Love

To my delight, Sex and the City: The Movie definitely satisfied me (as a fan), in some ways more than others. But, in order to keep the plot as fresh as possible for those of you who haven't seen it, I'm just going to talk about the fashion...

I felt like I'd died and gone to fashion heaven, and, for the most part, I had already seen most of 300 wardrobe changes. Among the designer brands were Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Valentino, Versace, Vivienne Westwood, Zac Posen, and of course, Manolo Blahnik.

Here's a summary of some of the standout pieces:

And, I may be mistaken, but there were a few outfits that ended up on the cutting room floor:

Now In Theaters!

We're finally getting what we want. More, More, More Sex and the City!

Be sure to see these lovely ladies on the silver screen this weekend! It's going to be abso-f*ckin-lutely fabulous!

NBA Finals!!!

Something truly amazing happened last night. My Los Angeles Lakers defeated the defending champions, the San Antonio Spurs, and are headed to the NBA finals! Former Los Angeles Lakers player and NBA legend Jerry West presented the team with their Western Conference trophy. And, as for Kobe, I've never seen him look happier than he did last night. After what went down this summer, with Kobe begging to be traded, no one could have predicted this happy ending. And with a possible Lakers vs. Celtics series looming, it'll be all that happier when we win.

RENT Lives For Another Day!

I AM SO EXCITED! The OBC (Original Broadway Cast, for those of you who don't know the lingo) of RENT is scheduled to appear alongside the current Broadway cast at the 62nd annual Tony Awards! Anthony, Adam, Idina, Taye, Wilson, Daphne, Jesse, and Fredi. AHH! Move over Equus, this will be the biggest Broadway event of the year!

Don't miss the Tony's, live from Radio City Music Hall on CBS, Sunday, June 15th, 8:00!

And, hold on to your seats RENTheads, that's not all! The final RENT performance, September 7th, will be distributed by "The Hot Ticket" to select movie theaters nationwide! So, some of us will get to see it on the big screen!

RENT aside, a lot is happening on Broadway. According to recent rumors, Britney Spears is being considered for the role of "Sandy" in the Broadway revival of Grease. Um, I'm thinking this is NOT true.

Also, Al Gore's documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, will soon be staged as an opera. Cool beans!

To-Do List

If you're like me, then you're doing some last minute scrambling before you go see Sex and the City: The Movie tomorrow night. Meaning, you're still refreshing your memory of the first 6 seasons, putting the finishing touches on the appropriate outfit to wear to the theater, etc. So, to help, here's a list of things to do:

1) Re-watch (at least) 'An American Girl in Paris (Part Une)' and '(Part Deux)'.

2) Do a bit of light reading.

3) Pop in the newly released soundtrack.

4) And if you've ever wanted to dress like the girls, ShopIntuition has got your back! They're carrying everything from the Timmy Woods Eiffel Tower Bag (pictured below), just like Carrie's Swarovski crystal film version, to the uber-famous nameplate Necklaces.

A Must-Watch

If you're still not convinced that Barack Obama is the right candidate, the best candidate, for the presidency of the United States, then watch this:

La Lohan Goes Home

After a much talked about holiday in Cannes, Lindsay Lohan returns home to NYC to spend time with her family.

Do you think she watched the premiere of Living Lohan on Monday? I did, and I think momma Dina and sister Ali are gonna have to work a lot harder to prove they're just a regular suburban family. For one thing, I'd like to advise Dina to lay off the tabloids a little bit. You don't need to read that negativity, and you'd be so much more relaxed if you didn't.

Home Sweet Home

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (may) have just signed a $60 million three-year lease on "Chateau Miraval" in the village Le Val, France. The chateau comes with its own vineyard, lake, forest and moat, ponies, 35 bedrooms, an indoor and outdoor pool, his-and-hers gyms, billiards room, sauna and jacuzzi, banquet hall, 20 fountains, aqueducts and a stream that runs through hidden tunnels, passes through the moat and fills the lake.

Just when I thought it wasn't possible, the Jolie-Pitt's life got a bit more fairy tale-esque!

PS: I totally forgot to wish the littlest of the Brangelina bunch a Happy 2nd Birthday yesterday! Happy belated Birthday Shiloh!

Idol Boys In The Big Apple

American Idol winner David Cook and runner-up David Archuleta are in New York City doing press and facing fans.

And it looks like little Archie's still overwhelmed by it all. He's too cute!

New York Premiere

Sex and the City: The Movie finally made it's NYC debut at Radio City Music Hall on Tuesday, and the fab 4 (plus 1) was in attendance.

Hello Ladies!

There are indications that Sex and the City: The Movie is attracting a lot of interest from women of all ages, not just the age of the four lead actresses, who range from their early 40s to just over 50. I for one am dying to see it and I'm only 22! But, can female moviegoers alone make SATC a hit? That's the BIG question. One thing that is known, however, is that ticket sellers are noticing a trend in pre-ticket-sales: Many women are planning to see the film in groups. "We are getting a surprising number of requests for group ticket sales from women planning 'Sex and the City' get-togethers," said Harry Medved, a spokesman for Fandango. I think Friday is going to be the BIGGEST girls night out EVER!

The Black Mamba Strikes Again

Kobe Bryant has made another super-creative video to promote Nike's Hyperdunk shoes. This time, KB24 "jumps" over a pool filled with snakes. Some people are speculating that the snakes are Black Mamba's, because that's Kobe's nickname, but that could not be farther from the truth as Mamba's are the deadliest snakes in the world, and I doubt even the Jackass gang would mess with them. Click HERE to head over to Kobe's website for the best quality video.

Indy Is No. 1

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has unearthed a goldmine at the box-office, and has quickly become the No. 1 movie in the country! The film earned an estimated $126 million through Sunday, and is expected to amass $25 million more on Monday. This means that ‘the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' is on its way to being the second-best Memorial Day opening ever (though it should be the best). And, this proves that Indiana Jones is still America's favorite action-adventurer and Harrison Ford is, always & forever, the biggest movie-star on earth.

This September marks the 10th anniversary of when Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was first released in the United States. To celebrate, on September 23rd Scholastic will offer a Special Anniversary Edition to be purchased for $30! Check out the BRAND NEW artwork by Mary GrandPre:

PS: I've been thinking a lot about Harry Potter lately. Can you believe that it's been nearly a year since 'the Deathly Hallows' hit shelves?

FYI: The official Sex and the City movie merchandise is now available with SJP's BITTEN products at Steve & Barry's! I think I've finally found what I'm wearing to see the movie!

Update
:

Sex and the City: The Movie may be up for the Oscar race after all!

SATC costume designer Patricia Field is more than likely to take the film full of fashion labels to the Academy Awards. The super-talented stylist may even win the movie an Oscar.

Fashion has always been an important character in SATC. Field, who nabbed an Oscar nomination two years ago for The Devil Wears Prada, helped the HBO series rise to fame with a well-known use of designer duds.

In the movie, Sarah Jessica Parker alone has 81 wardrobe changes, while Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, have 200 wardrobe changes between them. And, Vogue’s fashion editor Andre Leon Talley has a cameo role.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, "When it came to the clothes (for the film), they went for visual overload. The label-dropping — Chanel, Prada, Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Christian Lacroix, Vivienne Westwood and, of course, Manolo Blahnik, whom Carrie did not trade in for Christian Louboutin — is intense."

I Love New York

Ashlee Simpson, just back from her honeymoon, steps out in Soho NYC with one of the new Louis Vuitton joke bags!

Meanwhile, Katie Holmes is hanging out in the theater district, rehearsing for her Broadway debut in All My Sons.

Today's the day! Swing in to your local theater and see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull!

David Wins "Idol"

Although my dream for David Archuleta (from day 1) was crushed, I'm very happy for David Cook, and excited to see how he'll do. It'll be tricky to fill the commercial role of the "American Idol" as well as the non-conformist role of an American rock-star. But, I have faith in him.

My favorite moments from last nights finale:
1) The Davids Nickelback duet!!!
2) Ryan Seacrest nearly being thrown off the stage on a magic carpet, and his spur-of-the-moment breakdance!
3) David Archuleta singing with One Republic (even though he should have sang the whole song while the lead singer just harmonized).
4) The shot of Blake Lewis singing along to Jordin Sparks' song.

My least favorite moments:
1) Anything NON-AMERICAN IDOL, like Donna Summer, Bryan Adams, George Michael, The Love Guru/movie promotions, Jimmy Kimmel, etc. (I'm not specifically saying the Jonas Brothers because I love them!).
2) The lack of interaction with American Idol contestants (past and present). For one thing, Ryan should have interviewed Jordin about the past year (But, instead we got an interview with George Michael about his tour).

PS: I can't wait until the tour!
