It's time to hang up the scarf, take off the wig, put down the camera and the guitar, and play a few final beats on the trash can drum. RENT, Broadways heart and soul, will be closing come June 1, 2008. For those of us who have seen it, “we were the lucky ones.” This is very sad news. The Great White Way will never be the same.
Update: As if it couldn't get any worse, I just found out that the longest running Off-Broadway show, The Fantasticks, will also be closing in 2008. On February 24th. This is probably the funniest show I've ever seen and I'll be so sad to see it go.
