The Reader: A Review

I've finally seen The Reader, the Academy Award nominated film based on the best-selling book by Bernhard Schlink, and I thought it was quite intriguing, dark, and quiet. It was a bit long, but I liked it.

It's about a boys affair with a women twice his age, and what happens after it ends and WWII begins: Nazi war crimes and an embarrassing secret bring the two together when they least expect it.

It's widely known that Kate Winslet gives a great performance in this film, but I think it's David Kross and Ralph Fiennes that drive the story along. And, although I love her, I wouldn't be surprised if she lost the Oscar to another Best Actress nominee.
