The People Have Spoken
Last nights 34th annual People's Choice Awards was the first event of the season to show the obvious effects of the WGA writers strike. There was no red carpet, no audience, and in the case of Joaquin Phoenix, no speech. Yes, Joaquin's acceptance for Favorite Leading Man was, in my opinion, the most entertaining part of the night. Instead of speaking (via pre-recorded video), he held up cue cards that read, "Hello. I'm Joaquin Phoenix. I'm speechless... Without the Writers." How clever! Other winners included "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Grey's Anatomy," Ellen Degeneres, and Justin Timberlake.
