Yes, that's your name up on that list!
Bailey Hanks is the winner of MTV's reality casting competition, Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods. She will succeed Tony nominee Laura Bell Bundy as Elle Woods in the New York production of Legally Blonde on Wednesday at 8 PM. It will be her Broadway debut. Ghostlight records will also release Bailey's single version of the musical's first-act closer, "So Much Better," on iTunes Today.
And, according to PLAYBILL, 'The Search for Elle Woods' finalists Autumn Hurlbert, Rhiannon Hansen and Lauren Zakrin have all been cast in either the Broadway production or the first national tour of the musical. Autumn, the first runner-up in the competition, will understudy the role of Elle Woods on Broadway and will perform in the ensemble. Lauren will understudy the tour's Elle Woods, and will also be a member of the ensemble. And, Rhiannon will play the role of Margot, Elle's best friend, on tour.
To be honest, I was a bit surprised that Autumn didn't win. She easily had the best voice, and, considering the finale was actually filmed in March, she would have had 4 months to work on her dancing. But Bailey will do a great job. She's definitely got Elle's personality, and that will surely shine on stage at the Palace. Snaps!
